Di-Tec International, Inc. provides a new, innovative compound liner down stacker that virtually eliminates costly scratches. Byeliminating scratches, spoilage is thereby reduced, with a cost savings to the can manufacturer as well as the consumer.
The greatest source of scratches on can ends (particularly in the newly introduced softer end coatings) and the significant spoilage resulting therefrom, has been found to be caused by the end down stacker on conventional style reciprocating compound liners which apply the sealing compound to the can ends. Existing designs cause scratches on the ends from the reciprocating feed bars.
Di-Tec International, Inc. a firm specializing in the design and manufacture of innovative machine tools for the canning industry, has designed and fabricated a number of end down stackers to replace the old shim and blade found on conventional machines. The Di-Tec design has been tested and proven on the production lines at a number of major canners. In its design, Di-Tec has chosen three hardened, ground, highly polished, tool steel rotary screws to replace the shim and blade style. The screws allow for a gentle separation of the can ends due to their rotary motion (not reciprocating as in old style machines). The new design virtually eliminates all scratching and jams. Each screw has precision thread ground grooves, so no shimming is required. In addition to eliminating "tweaking" time, the rugged new stacker will also withstand can end feed jams which typically damage conventional shim and blade assemblies. The shim and blade assemblies usually then have to be removed, polished and reinstalled or replaced with new assemblies.
The new Di-Tec rotary screw cutoff assembly, containing the knives, is driven by a timing belt off the machine's drive mechanism under the table top. This eliminates the necessity for additional power sources or drives. It also provides a uncluttered table top for better housekeeping, personnel safety and ease of maintenance. Unlike conventional style machines, the stack of can ends in the new Di-Tec design does not rest on the feed bars, thereby eliminating friction and wear from the stack weight of the can ends on the feed bars which are reciprocating at high speeds. In the Di-Tec design, can ends rest on the cutoff screws. Stack height control is accomplished by the three integral stop fingers which raise the stack above the cutoff screws and are activated by a double action air cylinder, adjacent to the assembly.
Di-Tec provides a variety of modernization, upgrade and retrofit packages for compound applying machines to owners and users of single and dual lane reciprocating compound liners. In Di-Tec's shop the machines can be completely overhauled to manufacturer's specifications including the manufacturer's oil sump lubrication system. In addition, Di-Tec can install all or any part of its modernization package which includes: Rotary Cutoff Assembly, Ball Slide Assembly, New State-of-the-Art Electrical Panel and an Encoder-Driven Electronic Gun.
Your machine is completely disassembled down to the frame, cleaned and inspected. It is then repainted and rebuilt to your selected options. One option available from Di-Tec is the installation of the Rotary Cutoff Assembly. A second is the replacement of the Reciprocating Gib Slide with a lightweight ball slide equipped with three precision loaded linear ball guides. The ball guides are mounted on two hardened tool steel, linear rails utilizing four ground circular arc, groove ball tracks for high rigidity and long life. The new ball has considerably less friction than the old gib slides. Weighing less than one-half of the old style gib slides, friction on the slide is reduced, accuracy is increased, no shimming or hand fitting is required. The new ball slides are interchangeable with the old style end feed slide and gib assembly. It is assembled and pre-set at Di-Tec. For field installation, when sold separately, the entire assembly is merely dropped into place and attached to the table top and existing rod end.
A third option available from Di-Tec is a state-of-the-art electrical control panel with a programmable logic controller (PLC) customized to meet the existing process conditions of the user.
A fourth option available during the refurbishment (or sold separately) is the installation of a high speed counter driven directly off the chuck spindle. The encoder provides an exact spindle count which eliminates timer variances in electronic dispensing gun
